Christmas Food Y Mas Event

The Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree Program helps provide Christmas gifts—like toys and clothing—to children in need. Donors select a paper angel tag with a recipient’s name and wish list, then return new, unwrapped gifts by a set deadline. Families apply in the fall and, if accepted, receive the gifts in December.
Mirna’s Place had the honor to partner with AZ Community Impact, the Salvation Army, and several local businesses to support this meaningful effort. Through the Mirna’s Place Food y Más Program, families from the areas of Arlington, Palo Verde, Tonopah, and Harquahala are adopted. Families are provided with food or cleaning supplies, as well as toys for each child in their family.
The success of this event not only depends on partnerships with organizations and businesses but also on the participation of volunteers. We had the privilege of having over 100 volunteers greet and help each family at each station. Families arrive in their vehicles and verify their names at the registration area. Once verified, they are directed to drive-through stations where volunteers instruct them to open their trunks so boxes of food or cleaning supplies can be placed inside. Families pass through several stations to receive their donations, with the final stop being the toy station, where each family receives gifts for their children.
